Amtrak, the largest passenger railroad service in the U.S., operates the train service from Boston to Orlando. There is no direct connection between the two cities. You can start the journey with the high-speed train service Acela or the slightly cheaper and slower Northeast Regional, and you will transfer to Silver Service. You can transfer it to a Silver Service train at New York's Penn Station and Washington's Union station.

  1. The Acela Express is a high-speed train between Boston, MA., and Washington, DC. It is the fastest train in the Northeast Corridor, reaching 150 miles per hour; Acela tickets are pricier due to their incredible speeds and comfort. Extra legroom, free Wi-Fi, and a power outlet under each seat are some of the perks you can expect on Amtrak Acela Express.
  2. Northeast Regional is the most popular train due to its price and frequency. It runs around ten times a day. The Northeast Regional is slower, but it makes more stops along the way, making it a more convenient option for passengers who need to make connections.
  3. The Silver Service is a long-distance Amtrak service connecting New York and Miami and serving many smaller cities, one of them being Orlando. All trains have Viewliner sleeping cars, with the option of booking a smaller roomette or a more comfortable bedroom. Still, unlike the Silver Star, the Silver Meteor has a dining car, which also means that the sleeping cars get inclusive room service.

Travel from Boston to Orlando in a sleeper car

So there are two options to pick from if you want to sleep in the Silver Service sleeper car:

  1. The Roomette is, at first glance, a tiny room, but it is very well-used. Different innovative storage options will surprise you at every step. They start with two comfortable recliner seats, which turn into a bed, and a second bunk bed that you pull from the ceiling, making enough space for two people to sleep and have a great view. The older Viewliner cars have a toilet and a sink in the room (one of the surprises under the steps to the upper bunk), which can be tricky if there are two people. The newer cars have toilets and bathrooms in the hallway.
  2. The Bedroom is twice as big, with a big comfy queen bed and a bathroom in the room (separated by a door). It has all the amenities of the Roomette with a difference of more space and a higher price.

If you opt for the sleeping car, keep in mind that you must book the entire unit alone or with someone. Also, the coach has comfortable reclining seats, perfect for getting some shut-eye, so give it a chance.

Transfer to Silver Service in New York or Washington

In Boston, you can board at these two stations:

The station is part of Boston's subway system and numerous bus services, including MBTA Commuter Rail, Amtrak, Greyhound Bus Lines, MBTA Subway, and LINK buses. It. It is located near Chinatown and within walking distance of Beacon Hill and downtown Boston.

As previously mentioned, you can change trains at New Yorks Penn Station's newest addition - Moynihan Train Hall. Recently opened in 2021, the new transportation facility and architectural marvel is situated across 8th Avenue from Penn Station. Fun fact or a warning, Penn station is said to be the busiest train station in the western hemisphere, so keep your eyes peeled on your belongings and take a deep breath before you step into the station.

The second station you may be boarding the Silver Service train is Washington's Union station. Arriving by train from Boston to Orlando

The central Orlando Amtrak station, 1400 Sligh Blvd, is a beautiful historical building from the 1920s that offers the convenient service of checked baggage and free overnight parking. Unfortunately, it could be better connected, especially if you are going to Disney World; in that case, the Kissimmee station would be a better option. The city center, Universal studio, and Disney World are approximately 10 miles away, but the only way to reach them is by taxi (Uber, Lyft)

Silver service and the local Sun Rail serve Kissimmee station. There is no parking available, but several car rental companies are at the station. It is located in the historic city center and close to Disney World, but you will still need an Uber or a Lyft to get there.

Orlando is one big giant theme park. Besides the previously mentioned Disney World, it is also home to Seaworld, Legoland, Universal studios, and site-specific Gatorworld, making Orlando a dream destination for families and everybody else. But if you are interested in something more sophisticated, we recommend checking out Winter Park and Thornton Park, Orlando's trendy neighborhoods, for some shopping and fine dining. For those with an appetite for adventure, Orlando Wetlands Park offers a glimpse of the Orlando wildlife (you know, alligators).
