Amtrak, the largest passenger railroad service in the U.S., operates the train from Miami to Orlando. The two Floridian cities are on the Silver Service line, composed of two trains, Silver Meteor and Silver Bullet.
The Silver Service is a long-distance Amtrak service connecting New York and Miami and serving many smaller cities, one of them being Orlando. All trains have sleeping cars, although you may not be interested in this option since the train ride is six hours on average. Both Silver Service trains have Viewliner sleeping cars, with the possibility of booking a smaller roomette or a more comfortable bedroom. Still, unlike the Silver Star, the Silver Meteor has a dining car, which also means that the sleeping cars get inclusive room service.
If you opt for the sleeping car, keep in mind that you need to book the entire unit, whether alone or with someone. Also, the coach has comfortable reclining seats, perfect for getting some shut-eye, so give it a chance.
In Miami, you can board the train at The Miami Amtrak Station (8303 NW 37th Ave). It offers travelers a large and convenient waiting area complete with vending machines, restrooms, on-site customer service staff, and secure parking facilities. For easy access to other parts of this vibrant city, there's also a Tri-Rail Metrorail Transfer Station conveniently located just blocks away from 8303 NW 37th Ave!
In Orlando, there are two options for how to end your journey.
The central Orlando Amtrak station, 1400 Sligh Blvd, is a beautiful historical building from the 1920s that offers the convenient service of checked baggage and free overnight parking. Unfortunately, it needs to be better connected, especially if you are going to Disney World. In that case, the Kissimmee station would be a better option. The city center, Universal studio, and Disney World are approximately 10 miles away, but the only way to reach them is by taxi (Uber, Lyft).
The Silver Service and the local Sun Rail also serve Kissimmee station. There is no parking available, but several car rental companies are at the station. It is located in the historic city center and close to Disney World, but you will still need an Uber or a Lyft to get there.
Orlando is a giant theme park. Besides the previously mentioned Disney World, it is also home to Seaworld, Legoland, Universal Studios, and GatorWorld Parks, making Orlando a dream destination for families and everyone who likes Mickey Mouse and alligators. But if you are interested in something more sophisticated, we recommend checking out Winter Park and Thornton Park, Orlando's trendy neighborhoods, for some shopping and fine dining. For those with an appetite for adventure, Orlando Wetlands Park offers a glimpse of the Orlando wildlife (you know, alligators).
