Saarland

The Saarland in southwestern Germany is geographically the smallest state . The population amounts to about 1 million , the state capital is Saarbrücken with around 177,000 inhabitants. The Saarland bordering the Rhineland -Palatinate, to the Luxembourg region Grevenmacher and south to the French Lorraine region (Lorraine ) . The Saarland belonged until 1947 to even the French zone of occupation , 10 years later, it was politically back to Germany . The assemblies and the Moselle are among the most important rivers in this state , about one-third of the country is covered with forests . In Saarbrücken, there is an international airport , the euro train station and on the motorways the country with many connection points of the different parts of the city is very easy to reach. The Saarland was economically hard hit by the decline of the mining industry , but it came through the settlement of new companies, such as the automotive industry with Ford and key suppliers such as Michelin , Bosch, ZF gearbox and INA, again to new jobs . Of the former steel company are as yet the Saar Stahl AG and the AG resident of the Dillinger Hütte works in the Saarland state . Other important industries in Saarland are the ceramic industry and computer science . As for the tourism in the Saarland , so here are some important Roman and Celtic excavations available . We are especially famous in the city of Hunnenring Otzenhausen , the beautiful Louis Church in the town of Saarbrücken and the Voelklinger hut. It is worth mentioning that the Saarland in 1952 was represented at the Summer Olympic Games in Helsinki as a separate second German Olympic team.
