Although with its 13,595 km2 area is the twelfth region, Campania has a population density which makes it considerably according to the number of inhabitants, only to Lombardia. Bordering the Lazio, Molise, Puglia and Basilicata, this region presents a landscape incredibly varied to a hinterland characterized by impressive mountains contrasts with the coastal strip – Tyrrhenian Sea – mostly flat, but locally interrupted by volcanic and of sedimentary origin.
